More pipes and ventwork

Not a lot to report from today, only the Housley crews were at the house. They did a bit more with the plumbing and heating. Otherwise, the retaining walls that we'd hoped to have up didn't quite make it. Not much electrical work to speak of either.

More HVAC, electrical and plumbing

The first picture is an attempt to show how much is going on over at the house. Lots of people with three different crews doing their jobs. The electricians pulled most of the wire for the main floor. The HVAC guys continued to run ductwork, and the plumbers started getting the lines in place (including all the fun pipeworks behind the master shower). Finally the forms for the footings came off outside. We're hoping for retaining walls to be in place tomorrow.

Pump truck, footings and ducts

Lots of activity today with the arrival of the concrete pump again, this time to pour the footings for the driveway retaining walls. Looks like it's almost reaching over the roof! The electricians got their conduit in place to run power to the house (beneath the footings). Also had the HVAC folks working on getting more ducts in for the second floor.

Forms and Clean Cave

Stephanie managed to get a clear flash-lit shot of the batcave in all it's cleaned out glory. Can't wait until we have some electricity in there and can hookup the super-duper bat computer. Actually, we did have some work going on today - the concrete contractors showed up to place the forms for the retaining wall footings. Whilst they worked yours truly laong with Grandpa Croasmun was digging out the holes for the porch footings. We actually hit rock bottom -literally in the form of lava rock. We'd felt very fortunate up to this point that we'd not run into it. I can tell you now with some authority that we were very nearly wise men - by about 5 feet.

Footing prep, Plumbing and a Clean Batcave

As you can see from the photos, the concrete guys put tarps down in preparation for forming and pouring soon. The Housley crews were busy getting the HVAC downstairs fininshed (you can see the furnace in place), and the kinks in the plumbing plan worked out. After some discussion we came to the conclusion that we simply wanted to be able to have more than one shower going at the same time, and not have to worry about someone else flushing the toilet elsewhere. I trust they know what to do to make that work. Beyond that we talked with the specialty roofers about getting the dining room bay covered, and shielded on the bottom as well. Finally Dad/Grandpa Hancock and I knocked the timber supports out of the batcave (cold storage beneath the porch), and the ceiling didn't come crashing down. I look forward to what Batmom (Steph) will be doing with it!

Wiring and More

The wiring of the upstairs is pretty much complete. The plumbers were also around, though there wasn't much to be seen. HVAC work continues, and we look forward to that moving upstairs.

Roof, Digging, Done!

Okay, so we still need the metal roof above the dining room bay window, but the roofers are otherwise done. And the only casualty was one window! Our excavator also finished up his digging and so we'll be ready to have the footings for the retaining walls and deck in place soon. Our favorite HVAC guy was hard at work once again and finished up the duct work for the basement for the most part. The plumbers dropped off the pex tubing. Our siding contractor showed up and dropped off the trim and his equipment. We'll be excited to see that get started as well.

We'll Take What We Can Get

You can see that the masons finished yesterday, and today their work was unveiled. Our roofer also stopped by and got the one gable finished along with the east side of the porch. Our one hardworking HVAC man was here hooking things up. Stephanie spent some quality time with the cabinet maker plotting things out as well. Last but not least our excavator finally showed and got back to work. We were hoping that the retaining wall footings will be poured - but perhaps tomorrow...

Digging, Stone, and Downstairs

Today the HVAC crew did more venting, the electricians placed the boxes downstairs, and the masons finished the rock on the front porch. Lots of folks working again makes for happy homeowners! Also had the excavator come late in the afternoon to work on making room for the foundation of our driveway retaining wall. Hopefully the forms get set tomorrow and poured the next day. The handlesets also arrived - still waiting on miscellaneous door hardware, but it should be here soon too.

Rock, Air, and Electricity

This was perhaps the busiest day at the house we've seen. I told Stephanie it felt almost like a mini "Extreme Home Makeover". We had the stonemason doing a great job on the entry, the electricans (five of them!) getting all the rough in boxes in place, and the HVAC guys turned the basement into a sheet metal shop. It's fun to see all the progress, and you'll hopefully get a snippet (pun intended) looking at these pictures.

Lights, HVAC, Plumbing!

Today was a beautiful day, as evidenced by Stephanie's more artistic pictures in this bunch. The HVAC guys started work after Stephanie did a walkthrough with Richard Housley. The plumbers continued to find ways to drain everything in the house, and the electricians were
around for a while. You can see more of the can lights in place on the second floor balcony. Finally the roofers did some work, but spent most of the time correcting the venting so that we'd have the proper ridge vents. Our stonemason is getting ready to do installation tomorrow, so we look forward to that as well.
