Garage Band

Today the garage walls went up and the steel decking on the porch was put in place. Wahoo! Looks like Friday we'll have a garage floor and front porch too.

Upward and Onward

Well - as silly as it may sound, our earnest prayers over the weekend were answered, in this case by a few workmen! We've really been anxious to have the house up and enclosed before the notoriously capricious Idaho weather brought things to a real standstill. I guess we're okay, since they're still hard at work on the auditorium down at BYU-I getting all their trusses in place. As long as we stay apace of that project we should be okay (we hope!). As you can see more work today on getting the front of the home framed and the second floor trusses up. It's fun to see the real dimensions coming to life.

Smooth Garage

Unfortunately no framing today. But the garage "reject gravel" was distributed and smoothed out in preparation for pouring the floor. We've also just about got things lined up to do the front porch as well.

More Up on Main

More framing today on the main floor. It's fun to see the rooms and actually feel the dimensions. We're hoping to get everything together to get the garage and front porch poured soon as well.

Walled In

Today most of the main floor exterior walls were finished. We'll need to have a couple of revisions done to get the double fireplace inbetween the library and the living room, and access to the room
beneath the back stairs. Beyond that everything's looking great! Not pictured, but finished was the compaction of the gravel in the garage. We're hoping to get the steel beams in the garage area soon
and the rest of those walls up.

Up on Main

Today we got to see some progress on the main floor. The changes each day are exciting to see. Not only is the floor down, but the walls are up. We're now ready to get the floor in the garage finished up, and we're also hoping to get the front porch on soon. Wahoo!

Floor Down

As projected, the floor trusses are down, and part of the main floor sub-floor is down as well. There's still some more framing to do downstairs, but it's very satisfying to see the trusses in place and know that things are moving up, up, up!

Well begun is half done

As you can see, the basement isn't quite finished yet, but we're excited for each bit of progress. There have been a lot of discrepencies between various versions of the plans, but out good framers are figuring them out. They hope as we do that the upper floors will go more quickly.

Fillin' and Framin"

Today saw the filling of the garage area nearly to the brim (just need some reject gravel now), and the framing of the peripheral walls of the basement. We're excited with the progress in both areas, particularly after little happened yesterday. Next up is the interior basement walls and perhaps even the floor trusses... more tomorrow. Stephanie and I went through the nitty-gritty on the windows, and will likely order these tomorrow.

North by Northwest

What a difference a day makes. Here we see Ellie inspecting the handiwork along the north basement wall. Next is a shot of the exterior wall up and the interior wall down. The final shot shows the work done along the edges of the foundation to get things bolted down and ready to go. Word on the street is that we may have the basement framed in and the first floor down before the weekend!

Let the Framing Begin!

Finally after a 3 week hiatus we're back in business! And what a  difference a few weeks can make. We're on the cusp of having the home  in Syracuse sold, and are all squared away in getting the construction loan. Can't tell you how nice it was to have Jim Kelly, some of his crew and the folks from BMC here this morning bright and early to get things going again!
