Siding Complete - Shelving Started

The siding crew finished up the shingles on the exterior, and only then discovered that our window footers were the wrong style. So it's back to the factory with them. Inside our attic became storage space indeed with the shelving placed and nearly finished on one side. At the same time our painters are anxiously at work filling holes and getting ready to prime the upstairs.

Hearth and Home

Nice work inside with the hearth and finishing of carpentry on the upper floor. Outside the siding was placed around the main floor window, and up to the second floor. Lots of coordinating on the phone as well with cabinet makers, flooring folks and painters (but we can't
picture that).

Two In One

Two days are accounted in one since yours truly was away which left no time for the forewoman to get over and check on the progress. In the end it makes it look as though more got done, so that's good in the end. The upstairs work is progressing nicely. A bit more work to be done in the master bedroom, but the window casings look great (despite the backlighting making that hard to tell). The shelving in the "attic" remains, and then it's on to the main floor where doors have been delivered already...

Closets and Doors

Stephanie wanted some modificaitons made to the master closet - and here they are. Also completed were some of the door casings and baseboard on the upper level.

Gutters Galore

We were so glad for the installation of the gutters today. And none too soon. The dripping down the house has now led to silt seepage and mud in the basement room. Hopefully with the gutter in place we wont have to worry about this anymore. When spring comes in earnest we'll have to find a way to seal this off. The marred window was replaced. Baseboard was installed in the girls room, as was the shelving for the closet. And finally, the garage was painted. Despite many worries, when the paint actually dried it looked more than okay - it actually turned out quite nice. (Perhaps nice enough to use elsewhere in the house).

Trim, Paint and Vents

The HVAC crew extended the basement furnace air intake through the deck, the sheetrock-turned-painting crew got the primer coat on the garage, and our finish carpenter got some nice work done. It's fun to see how the trim headers for our doors and windows so closely match the window headers on the outside. I don't know that we can claim to have done this consciously, but it's fun to see how that works out. (I guess at least our taste/style remains consistent). We'd wished to have some gutters installed to forestall another flooding of the basement - but maybe tomorrow...

Closets and Garage Work

Master closet had some shelving placed and trim work tacked in. The garage had it's (I think) final coat of mud today. It was left hotter than a greenhouse with enough CO and CO2 to sting the eyes. We turned down the heaters and let it air out, and all is better now. Also got a little drain put into the cold air intake line to the furnace
downstairs in hopes that the condensation wont kill the furnace anymore.
