Trimming Saturday
It's Saturday, but our faithful finish carpenter was at work this morning getting the trim around the entry window placed - and boy does it look nice. So nice in fact that we're probably going to have him redo the arches for the dining room and living room to match. Apparently there wasn't enough of the flex mold to make the complete arches before, but now that we have one that is correct - we're going to need the others to match. (It also needs to match our niche). So the moral of the story is - when working at your job, don't do it too well!

Tile and Detail
Today saw the completion of much of the tedious work around the curve of the stairway. This included the use of "flex-molding" a nice synthetic material that allows for bending without much effort. More tile work was also completed. Pictured is the "girls bathroom" with the diamond pattern, and the laundry room with the "brick" pattern.

Great Work
The flex molding was placed and much of the main floor trim finished. The cultured marble tub surrounds were placed and they look Marvelous! And if that weren't enough the tile was laid in the master bath and laundry room and this looks just outstanding as well!

Trim, Doors and a Mantlepiece
Nice to have some more trim done, some more doors delivered (and cased) and the first of many cabinet pieces placed. The cabinet makers delivered and installed the hideaway to go above our master bedroom mantle.

Floors Prepped, Hearth Honed
Okay, I'm pretty sure our finish carpenter didn't use a hone to finish the hearth, but his powertools worked just as well. Our tile journeyman got all the floors upstairs prepped, and hopefully will be laying some tile tomorrow. Our cabinetmaker didn't quite show up as we'd hoped - but we'll keep our fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Pro-Am Carpentry
You can see the results of a little pro-am carpentry today. Guess which project yours truly is responsible for? (Hint: it's not the nice work on the mantel or crown molding). The wood for the main floor was delivered, as were some of the supplies for the tile work. We also picked out the stain colors for the cabinetry (they look quite nice with the floor color).

Shadow Boxing
Our finish carpenter was hard at work today getting the trim work done in the dining room. Looks nice!

Pantry and Crowned Dining
We were very pleased at the layout of the pantry. The shelving accents the true serving sideboard/appliance shelf that we'll love to have. Beyond that the crown molding was placed in the dining room along with the chair rail. Nice stuff.

Casing the Main Floor
We were pleased not only to have the doors hung and shimmed, but cased as well. The headers look sharp, and it's fun to see things coming together.

Windows Cased
In addition to having the upstairs "attic" shelves primed, we also had the finish carpenter finish up the window casings for the main floor. Looks really nice!

Primed and Ready
Lots of planning today, and a bit of progress. We met with the cabinetmakers, and the finish carpenter for a good share of the day. Also met with Uncle Ray to get some of the flooring issues worked out. The painting crew did get most of the trim on the upper floor primed. That's most of what is featured today.

Shelved
The base of the porch was wrapped today, bringing the exterior work to near complete. On the inside the shelving in the attic space was finalized, with the seasonal clothing rack also placed. Though sad at the loss of the big open room, we'll appreciate the organized storage space.

Siding Complete - Shelving Started
The siding crew finished up the shingles on the exterior, and only then discovered that our window footers were the wrong style. So it's back to the factory with them. Inside our attic became storage space indeed with the shelving placed and nearly finished on one side. At the same time our painters are anxiously at work filling holes and getting ready to prime the upstairs.

Hearth and Home
Nice work inside with the hearth and finishing of carpentry on the upper floor. Outside the siding was placed around the main floor window, and up to the second floor. Lots of coordinating on the phone as well with cabinet makers, flooring folks and painters (but we can't
picture that).
picture that).

Two In One
Two days are accounted in one since yours truly was away which left no time for the forewoman to get over and check on the progress. In the end it makes it look as though more got done, so that's good in the end. The upstairs work is progressing nicely. A bit more work to be done in the master bedroom, but the window casings look great (despite the backlighting making that hard to tell). The shelving in the "attic" remains, and then it's on to the main floor where doors have been delivered already...
